THE GROOVES PLAYER PATHWAY
Better Golf Starts With A Better Plan
Whether you're picking up a club for the first time or trying to take an established game to the next level, improvement is easier when you know exactly what you're working towards.
The Grooves Player Pathway gives every golfer a clear starting point, the right coaching for their level and a structured plan to keep moving forward.
A BETTER WAY TO IMPROVE
Golf Coaching, Made Simpler
You shouldn't need to choose between a swing lesson, short game lesson, group session, playing lesson or practice session before you even know what your game needs.
That's our job.
At Grooves, every adult golfer follows the same Player Pathway. We understand where your game is now, where you want it to go and then give you the right combination of coaching, practice and support to help you get there.
A Clear Plan
Know what you're working on, why it matters and what comes next.
Coaching That Fits Your Game
Work on the areas that will make the biggest difference to your golf, from technique and short game to course management and scoring.
Progress You Can See
Regular reviews keep your coaching focused, your goals relevant and your game moving forward.
THE GROOVES PLAYER PATHWAY
One Pathway. Every Golfer.
Start where you are. Build the right skills. Keep moving forward.
Your age, gender, experience or current handicap doesn't define how seriously you can improve.
That's why we've built one coaching pathway for every adult golfer at Grooves.
You will train at the level that's right for your game today, alongside golfers at a similar stage, with clear milestones to work towards. As your game develops, your coaching develops with you.
GETTING STARTED
Your Journey Starts In One Of Two Ways
New To Golf?
You don't need an assessment or any previous experience.
Join the Player Pathway through Grooves Foundations or Grooves Development and start learning the game within our beginner coaching programme.
You'll develop the fundamentals while experiencing every part of the game, including putting, chipping, pitching, bunkers, irons, driving and playing on the golf course.
Because the programme runs throughout the year, there's no need to wait for the next traditional beginner course to start.
Already Play Golf?
Your journey starts on the golf course.
Our two-hour Player Assessment gives us the opportunity to see your real game rather than simply watching you hit balls on a range.
We'll understand your strengths, identify where shots are being lost, discuss your goals and establish where you should begin within the Player Pathway.
2-Hour Player Assessment — £100
Join a Grooves membership within six months and we'll deduct the full £100 assessment fee from your membership.
FIND YOUR LEVEL
Your Level Determines What You Work On
This isn't about labelling golfers. Your level helps us put you with the right coaches, the right players and the right challenges for your game. As you improve, you progress through the pathway.
Beginner
LEVEL 1Starting point: New to golf and without an established handicap.
Learn the game properly from the beginning, build confidence across every area and develop the skills you need to enjoy playing on the golf course.
Your milestone:
Achieve your first handicap.
Developing Golfer
LEVEL 2Starting point: Handicap 20+
Turn better shots into better golf.
Build greater consistency, develop a more complete short game and learn to make better decisions on the course so that your scores begin to reflect your ability.
Your milestone:
Break through the 20-handicap barrier.
Performance Golfer
LEVEL 3Starting point: Handicap 19 and below.
Move beyond simply improving your swing and start improving your performance.
Develop your scoring skills, decision-making, mental game and ability to perform when it matters.
Your milestone:
Your goals become individual to you, from lowering your handicap to achieving specific scoring or competition targets.
COACHING BUILT AROUND YOU
The Right Coaching At The Right Time
Golf isn't played on a driving range, so we don't believe your development should be restricted to one either. Every month, you can choose the coaching environment that best suits what you're working on.
-
Use a 60-minute 1:1 session to work directly with your coach on the areas of your game that need individual attention.
-
Train for two hours in a small group of up to four golfers at your level, developing specific areas of the game through purposeful practice and challenge.
-
Take your coaching onto the golf course in a two-hour small group session, where we can work on decision-making, strategy, routines and turning your skills into lower scores.
Every member can choose two coaching sessions each month.
Your coaching can change as your game changes. One month you may need individual technical work. The next, your biggest opportunity might be short game, course management or learning how to score better.
You're not buying a type of lesson, you're following a plan. Because the goal isn't simply a better swing — it's better golf.
PROGRESS WITH PURPOSE
Your Plan Never Stands Still
You never start again. You simply keep moving forward.
Golf changes. Your coaching should too.
Every three months, you'll review your progress with your coach.
We'll look at what's improved, where your next opportunities lie and set clear goals for the next stage of your development.
If you're ready to move up a level, you move up.
If your priorities change, your coaching changes with them.
And if you decide you want to extend your journey by upgrading your membership, everything you've already paid counts towards the next membership.

Developing the Next Generation of Golfers
Our junior coaching programmes help young golfers build confidence, develop their skills and discover a lifelong enjoyment of the game.

Through expert coaching, fun group sessions and structured development opportunities, we help young golfers become better players both on and off the course.
BETTER TOGETHER
Improve Your Game With People At Your Level
Golf improvement doesn't have to be a solitary pursuit.
Small group coaching allows you to learn alongside golfers at a similar stage, practise with purpose and challenge your skills in an environment that's supportive, social and enjoyable.
Our regular coaching schedule includes skills sessions, on-course coaching, beginner groups and dedicated ladies-only sessions, giving you plenty of opportunities to develop your game in the right environment.
And because groups are limited to four golfers at the same level, coaching remains personal and relevant to your game.

Everything you need to know
-
Absolutely. You don't need any previous experience, equipment or a handicap. Beginners can join through either our 3-month Foundations or 6-month Development membership and begin within our regular beginner coaching schedule.
-
Your first step is our two-hour Player Assessment. We'll watch you play on the golf course, discuss your game and goals, establish your Player Pathway level and recommend the most appropriate membership.
The assessment costs £100, which is deducted from your membership if you join within six months.
-
No. You can choose Foundations for three months, Development for six months or Mastery for 12 months.
The Player Pathway and coaching philosophy remain the same. Your membership determines the length of your journey and the additional benefits available to you.
-
That's exactly what we want to happen.
Your Player Pathway level isn't fixed. We review your progress every three months and move you into the next level when you're ready.
-
You can choose two coaching sessions each month from a 60-minute individual coaching session, a two-hour small group skills session or a two-hour small group on-course session.
Group sessions have a maximum of four golfers and are organised by Player Pathway level.
-
Your coaching allocation resets each month, so unused sessions don't roll over. Regular coaching and consistent engagement are an important part of the Player Pathway.
-
Yes. If you decide to move into a longer membership, everything you've already paid towards your current membership is credited against the upgrade.
-
Yes. Alongside our regular Player Pathway sessions, we run weekly ladies-only coaching sessions for golfers who prefer that environment.
-
The Player Pathway continues throughout the year. Group coaching operates on a reduced winter schedule, with more emphasis placed on individual coaching and purposeful practice while course conditions are less predictable.
Your Game. Your Level. Your Next Step.
You don't need to know whether your swing, short game, putting or course management needs the most attention. You don't need to decide which type of lesson to book and you don't need to work out how to improve on your own.
That's what we're here for.
Join the Grooves Player Pathway and we'll help you understand your game, build the right skills and keep moving towards the golfer you want to become.
